My personal 2024 Archery kill. It scored 87 7/8"
#9 in the Washington State Record Book, currently.
Archery Catagory
Columbia Blacktail
Fork Catagory
Lance Kimura, Owner Operator of Obsession Archey Shop, in Bothell Washington. Another dandy 3-point Columbia Blacktail. Killed on a Father and Daughter Hunt. His Daughter Brooke Shot a spike 50 minuets before Lance shot this 3-point. They played it well.
They had the 3 in the feeder but didn't get the shot. The spike ran him off, so Brooke killed the spike with her bow. Lance notified me he wanted to wait an hour before moving to see if the 3 would come back. It did, and they both smoked them on video.
My personal 2023 Buck.
Erin Alvord with her late archery 2024 Buck. She is a first-time hunter. She didn't score in 2023, however, she had the opportunity and passed due to her own confidence at the time. Another year of confidence-building through Lance and myself, and practice with her archery equipment. She came back headstrong in 2024 and had a few upsets not getting a shot until the last day she had left to hunt. I sat in and filmed and coached the hunt. She made a spectacular 20-yard shot. She also had to identify a Columbia Whitetail and pass on it the day prior, due to them being a protected Deer in this area. The video to come shortly.
My preferred way of removing the Deer from the set.
Mason Grower with his Late Buck Shotgun Buck. He made a great play, I sat in and filmed and coached the hunt.
Chasey Zack, a First-time hunter, 2024, with his mature Fork Buck. He hunted with faith in what I told him alone. 3-hour evening hunt and 3-hour morning hunt. His dad wanted to move, Chasey said, nope, I'm doing what Mike told me to do. 15 Minutes later, he got to touch off his first shot at a live Buck. He missed, the Buck just stood there, so his dad said he just John Wane'ed it with that 30-30 Winchester, and it did a summer salt the second shot and hit the dirt. On a total DIY Package. Late Buck Hunt. Casey is now an assistant guide.
We have around 200 acres of private land to hunt over several locations. In the Kalama Washington area. About 32 miles North of Portland Airport. We have beautiful worked properties and some really natural properties.
Package #1-- DIY 5 day hunt. $800.00
This hunt includes Onx info, trail cam info. Several blinds to hunt. You will be on the bottom of the Totem pole if other hunters who payed more are hunting the same day as you. Not meaning much, other than they have first choice of spots, that day. If you are the only hunter that day, you can hunt any stand based on your goals. I don't allow shooting Does on some properties, others properties we encourage shooting a few.
Package #2 Diy all season hunt. $1400.00. This hunt is also offered in a 2 for one hunt. Based on a guy having a multi-season tag, for instance. Basically, we all think we have the time to getter done; however, this hunt allows for the whole, dang I can't make it thing. Typically, people plan a 6-day hunt and end up having things come up, and going home early, and not getting one during the booked dates for the hunt. This hunt eliminates that, and is an open date hunt. You can arrange hunting time on short notice, all season. I always have a spot open for the short-notice hunt. I can provide all the same stuff as hunt #1 as well. Everything is marked well. With Onx and a good headlamp, you will be fine getting in and out of the spots.
Package #3 The School of Nocks. I will break this one down into segments, so you can remove the ones you don't need for your total price. This all starts in the spring or summer. #1-Pre hunt bow tune- $300.00. This is where we match your broadheads to your field points. You get to learn how to do it. Step by step. It can end up being an all-day project depending on your skill level and stamina. I teach some simple form stuff if needed. #2-Pre hunt- walk through- $300.00. I show you all the blinds and go over the strategy for your hunt. Show you how they come in and out of each spot. Maybe even shoot some tree-stand 3-D shots to simulate your shot. Close to an all-day event, but fun. #3- Pack and track training -$500.00. You have to make a shot to have this cost happen. Option #1 is a DIY sit-in. You sit in and walk in on your own on hunting days by yourself and hunt. You can get phone help if needed. $1400.00 for the season, or we can work out a price for a shorter hunt, based on your goals and availability. Option #2 Fully Guided and filmed - $400.00 per day until you get one or run out of time. My assistant guide, or myself, will hunt with you. Usually around 6 hours, depending on cycles.
If you have other ideas on packages or how much you want to spend, run it by me. I'm sure we can work something out.
No Alcohol! Prices start from the back side. Pay attention! For the DIY packages. If you can't find your animal, and bring me into the track and pack. That is $500.00 per day. There will be an additional $125.00 charge for asking someone to look for your animal on their property, per occurrence. There will be a $500.00 charge for any alcohol related disruptions. All bows have to be proven that the Broadheads are hitting good at the furthest distance you intend on shooting. That is one shot cold from that distance. If bow tuning needs to be done, it's 50 Bucks an hour.
My assistant guide and self-appointed son, Austin Thomasson, and his brother Eian, with his 2025 Muzzel Loader Doe from the Battleground unit 564. Eian had 2 days to hunt. Austin worked really hard for him. They were after a specific Buck, and got a look at him. He settled for a Doe in second half of the last day of his hunt.
Austin is known for getting after it when it comes
to the hunt. He is sharp and puts together great game plans. He already put a guy 17 yards from a 3-point Buck this year. The hunter opted not to shoot! He is a very enthusiastic young guide. A very lovable person, and easy to get along with.
This is one of our new spots for 2025. We call it Morning Glory. Notice the platform in the maple tree, upper left-hand corner. A perfect funnel to cut off Bucks during the Rut. We also planted this spot, so it has become a natural social gathering area.
This is Switchback Bench. A natural funnel for Bucks on a beautiful bench. Notice the ladder stand, upper left corner. I have been sitting in this spot myself a little over the last few days, and I love it. I left 10 min. before this nice Buck came in. Another new spot for 2025. I monitored it last year, and it was hot all the way into January for Bucks showing up. This year it has already proven to get plenty of Buck action. We also planted this spot in a small natural setting.
This is Scatter Creek Bench. A proven hot Spot for Columbia Blacktail Bucks, over the last few years. It now has a beautiful circular meadow on the bench that sits over the Creek. We have improved this spot considerably from what it once was. It is now a planted meadow and is a natural social gathering spot as well. Before, it was a natural opening with a bait station. We built a raceway this year for Bucks to chase Does in this spot. It is already a natural spot for Bucks to chase Does. We just shortened their journey. It should be a hoot to watch this spot work. It is a real pleasure to sit in. Look at the double ladder. Stand over the back of this Beautiful 2.5-year-old Columbia Whitetail Buck. They are a protected Species. One thing we have to be aware of. This spot is also a designated Wheelchair accesses spot. You can drive a track wheelchair right to a pop-up blind that is hidden well under that ladder stand when we have handicap hunters. Drive right in the back.
New for 2025: The Gas-line. The tree stand over his back has been moved back some. This spot was scanned last year! It is something else! What a dream to sit in, once you get there. It's a bit of a hike on a little rough train, however, not to steep of walk. Well, unless your Buck goes downhill. This whole part of the property is steep and rugged. There is a year around creek, South, at the bottom of gas-line and another one to the East.
Rock Knob as a bait station. I expect this Buck to show in the New and Improved Rock Knob in the next week or so, if he made it through the cars, trains, arrows, slugs, Coyote, and Bears. I should see him really soon. we turned this part of the station into a liking branch stanchion. Maybe it will work like the bait tube.
The New and Improved Rock Knob to the right. Two Apple trees feature, along with some high protein foliage and bulbs I planted. This will provide some forage prior to winter feeding on the tubers. With the hopes of them leaving their antlers in the tuber bed. "Shed Bed"
This is a proven tried and true spot. Improved. The ones shown are only some of what is going on. We run a lot of angles.
